Scholarships

 

NU Undergraduate Tuition and Scholarship Policy for 2016/2017
  1. I.Tuition Fees:

Tuition at NU is EGP 2000 per credit hour for Egyptian and Permanent Resident Students.

Tuition for non-Egyptian students is $500 per credit hour.

Tuition per semester depends on the number of credit hours the student will register in. Typically:

  • Business students take a load of around 15 credit hours per semester.
  • Engineering and Computer Science students take a load of around 17 credit hours per semester.

All new students have to pay their tuition before or on the date stamped on their acceptance letter.

  1. II.Scholarship Policy:

NU offers a variety of scholarships to full-time Egyptian students for their study at NU as detailed below.

  • Banque Misr Scholarship: Banque Misr Foundation for Social Development is offering full scholarships to Egyptian students from all over Egypt for undergraduate studies at NU in Business and Engineering covering the full duration of study.

Eligibility is based on satisfying admission requirements at NU, including English language proficiency, academic excellence and Financial need.

  • Al Alfi Foundation Scolarship: Alfi Foundation is offering full scholarships to STEM School students from all over Egypt for undergraduate studies at NU in Engineering covering the full duration of study.

  • Housing and Development Bank Scholarship: Housing and Development Bank is offering a full Scholarship to Egyptian students from all over Egypt for undergraduate studies at NU in Business and Engineering covering the full duration of study.

Eligibility is based on satisfying admission requirements at NU, including English language proficiency, academic excellence.

  • Merit Scholarships: A merit scholarship will be offered to academically outstanding students based on their high school Score, as outlined in the table below. Maintenance of this scholarship beyond the first year will depend on the students’ academic performance at NU as per the table in item III.

 

  • President’s Scholarships:The University offers this additional scholarship for the first year to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic and extra curriculum performance at the high school level. Maintenance of this scholarship beyond the first year will depend on the students’ academic and extra curriculum performance at NU.

 

  • Sponsored Scholarships: The University offers a limited number of sponsored scholarships, up to 100% of tuition, based on specific donations from funding agencies targeting undergraduates. Maintenance of this scholarship beyond the first year will depend on the terms and conditions of the scholarship as specified by the donor agency.

 

  • Faculty Scholarships:An additional 15% reduction in fees will be offered to sons and daughters of full time faculty members in Egyptian universities, public or private. Maintenance of this scholarship beyond the first year will require that students stay in good standing (GPA 2.0 or higher) throughout their study years at NU.

 

  • Excellence in Sports Scholarships:A maximum of 5 slots are available for national sports accomplishments. Priority is given to the top two first places in national sports competitions. A 20% reduction in tuition, in addition to existing scholarships applies. Maintenance of the sports scholarship beyond the first year will require that students stay in good standing (GPA 2.0 or higher) and maintain their sports achievement throughout their study years at NU.

 

The tables below summarizes the amount of merit scholarships that individually paying students could be getting based on their high school Score and the remaining tuition that needs to be paid in every case during their first year of study.

  1. III.Maintenance of Scholarships:
The merit scholarship percentage in subsequent years is dependent on the student’s cumulative GPA at Nile University as per the table below. President’s, faculty and Sports scholarships have their own maintenance rules shown above. Scholarship percentage is determined in the summer of each year for individually paying students who will register in the following fall and will apply to the whole academic year including the following summer (September to August). Scholarships may change from one year to another based on the student’s cumulative GPA at the end of each academic year as explained earlier and shown below.
