Biography

Dr. Osman received his B.E. and M.Sc. degrees from Cairo University in 1992 and 1995, respectively, and his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 2000. During his Ph.D. program, he co-invented with Dr. Jerry Prince, his research advisor, the HARP technique for rapid analysis of tagged MR images. He is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Communication and Information technology, Nile Unniversity. Also he is an Assistant Professor in the Radiology Department, School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Osman is also a talented software systems architect. Before attending Hopkins, he developed with Amr Awadallah a voice-mail system that is currently being sold in Egypt. For their graduation project in 1992, they developed DigiLab, one of the most frequently downloaded digital circuit simulators still today. Dr. Osman published more than 50 journal papers, 4 book chapters, and many conference papers, and gave presentations at these conferences: Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (SCMR), IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), Internationl Society on Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), SPIE Conference on Medical Imaging, Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and Annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). Nael filed 3 patents related to MR image analysis. Dr. Osman the co-director of the Center for Informatics Science and the Director of the CIT-general track at the Nile University, and the head of the Medical Imaging and Image Processing Lab. He is also an Associate Professor of Radiology and holds a joint appointments in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department the Internal Medicine department.
